Charles Love Taylor Services for Charles Love Taylor, 84, of Konawa are at 2 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada.
The U.S. Marines Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Taylor passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at a local nursing home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1934, at Thermopolis, Wyoming, to Sherman S.Q. and Nonie Louise Wilkerson Taylor. He graduated from Ada High School and East Central University.
He married Mary Ellen Jumper on Nov. 8, 1956.
Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, retiring as a captain. While in the Marines, he was stationed at Marine Headquarters in Washington and was the first Marine in the NSA (National Security Administration). He later retired from the National Guard as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Taylor then moved to Washington, D.C., and owned and operated a filling station. He later moved back to Ada and owned and operated No Delay and Tip-Top Cleaners.
Mr. Taylor worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission, retiring as the deputy director.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; son, Jimmy Taylor and wife, Lynn, of Konawa; a daughter-in-law, Sharilyn Taylor of Konawa; sister, Kay Reed and husband, Gary, of Ada; two brothers, Sherman Edward Taylor and Dillard Taylor, both of Ada; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Stemple, Meridian, Idaho, Christopher Taylor, Oklahoma City, and Samuel Taylor and Jacob Taylor, both of Konawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Stephen Douglas Taylor, who died Sept. 1, 2013.
Bearers will be men who served in his unit in the National Guard: Jerry Snow, Darrel Rhoades, Farrel Rhoades, Marvin Mitchell and Marvin Barbee; and Mike O'Brian (Charles was his best man in his wedding).
