Services for Carl Gene Wages, 75, of Ada are at 1 p.m. today at Morris Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Jamar will officiate the service, assisted by the Rev. Jared Byrns, a relative of the family. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Wages passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. He was born June 1, 1941, to Charles and Velma Wages along with a twin brother, Charles.
Carl worked for Warren Cat out of Oklahoma City as a heavy-equipment mechanic, servicing the south-central area of Oklahoma for a little over 15 years before owning his own business, Wages Heavy Equipment Mechanic, out of Ada until 1995. Carl worked a brief time as district manager of Caterpillar sales and equipment before he was elected as District 2 County Commissioner, which he held for three consecutive terms until 2009, after which he retired.
Carl's favorite hobbies included team roping and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed working and supporting the local schools, fire departments and the Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Shows throughout his many years within this community.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 46 years, Patsy Yvonne "Lane" Wages; his youngest daughter, Keri Jacquelyn "Wages" Blevins; along with three brothers, Gerald, Winifred and Tom Wages, and one sistesr, Shirley Wagoner.
Surviving members are his second wife, Jerry, of the home; one daughter, Kristi Hayes and husband, Kenny, of Ada; five grandchildren, Kody, Kory and Kade Hayes of Ada, Kailee "Blevins" Aguilar of Ada and Kolby Blevins of Midwest City; four great-grandchildren, Kase and Krislynd Hayes, Kynlee Aguilar and newly born Kreid Aguilar; two brothers, Charles Wages of Moore and Cliff Wages of Aztec, New Mexico; three sisters, Charlcia Joiner of Huntsville, Texas, Joyce Moss of Waco, Texas, and Lou Little of Granberry, Texas.
The bearers will be his grandsons Kody, Kory, Kade Hayes, Kolby Blevins; nephew, Jerry Don Wages; and great-nephew, Bryce Casteel.
Leading the funeral procession from Morris Memorial Baptist Church to Rosedale Cemetery will be Oklahoma Trooper Chasen Bennet.
The family would like to thank each and everyone within this community for their well wishes and prayers.
