Bro. James's Story
Services for Brother James Elmer Stuart, 84, of Ada are at 1 p.m. Friday at Union Hill Baptist Church, northwest of Ada. His brother, the Rev. Sunny Stuart, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery near Tecumseh. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Stuart passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Choctaw to Elmer Ellis and Mary Doxie Lee Stuart. He attended Little Axe High School and Hillsdale Bible College.
He married Carol Marie Morabito Oct. 10, 1986, in Arlington, Texas. Stuart worked as the construction maintenance manager at OU Health Science Center in Oklahoma City for 25 years. He also pastored at Union Hill Baptist Church for 15 years. He previously pastored Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle and Archard Rd. Baptist Church in Madill. Stuart served in the U.S. National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; his children, David Stuart and his wife, LuAnn, of Noble, Terri Lin Stuart and her husband, Ronnie McMullen, of Norman and Kyle Stuart and his wife, Holly, of Ada; a stepson, Bill Nolan of Phoenix; a stepdaughter, Irene Nolan of Sulphur; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Paula Murray Stuart; his second wife, Donna Stuart; two sons, Jimmy Stuart and Gary Stuart; a grandson, Jason Stuart; two granddaughters, Christina Stuart and Chrysta Smith; a sister, JoAnn Talley; and four brothers, David Stuart, Herman Foree, Vernon Foree and Wesley Stuart.
Bearers will be Michael Stuart, Ian Smith, Albert Smith, Eric Stuart, Kellen Stuart and Isaac Stuart. Honorary bearer will be Michael Cosmah.
