Mrs. Logsdon passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at an Ada hospital.
Bobie Marion Owens Logsdon was born July 1, 1922, in California. She spent her childhood in both California and Seminole, Oklahoma. After graduating from Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City, she left for California at age 19 to, in her telling, avoid marrying an Okie. She later married the man who had been sent by her mother to pick her up at the train station in Los Angeles: an Oklahoman from Ada by the name of Guy Conner Logsdon.
She married Guy Conner Logsdon Oct. 30, 1941. He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2006.
She joined her husband at Conner Logsdon Real Estate and Insurance in the early 1950s and became a licensed insurance broker and Realtor. In the 1970s, she returned to school at East Central State College where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in special education. After graduation she began teaching at McCall's Chapel. She later became principal of the school. After her retirement from McCall's, she became involved with literacy efforts and was actively involved in the Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition for several years.
She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of First United Methodist Church upon moving to Ada in 1945.
She is survived by her children, David (Desma) Logsdon of Broken Arrow, Claudia Hunter (Sebastian Davis) of Oklahoma City and Kenneth Logsdon (Lynnette) of Columbia, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Gayle Logsdon of Ada; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three nephews; and her close friend and caregiver, Diana Osborne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobie Romans Owens and Thomas Randolph Owens; her husband, Guy Conner Logsdon; her son, Guy Conner Logsdon Jr.; and her sister, Eleanor O. Wilken.
Memorials should be sent to First United Methodist Church, 129 W. 14th, Ada, OK 74820; the Oklahoma Library for the Blind, 300 NE 18th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73105; or the Pontotoc Literacy Coalition, 124 S. Rennie, Ada, OK 74820.
Pallbearers will be members of the family: Gene Kellogg, Trey Logsdon, Jason Hunter, John Whitney, Mike Zimmermann and Zac Kellogg.
