Billy Joe "Bo" McNeill was born Feb. 18, 1938, in Ada. His parents were A.T. McNeill and Velma Younts McNeill. He died Aug. 7, 2017, in Tulsa.
Bill graduated from Ada High School in 1958, playing on the championship football teams. He earned both bachelor's (1962) and master's degrees from East Central University. After graduating from ECU, he taught at McLish High School in Fittstown before moving to Enid to teach at Longfellow Junior High School for several years. After taking an early retirement from teaching, he began his rental business, acquiring houses, tenants and friends. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Enid.
Bill is survived by Andria, Jason, Haley and Chase McCarthy; Lisa (Mote) Luther, Fred Mote, Nancy Mote, Drew Mote, Dale McNeill, Kent McNeill, Aaron McNeill and Amber McNeill; and great-grandchildren Rustin, Devin and Khloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Adelia "Dee" Mote Hensley McNeill, his son, Dean; his stepson, Mark Hensley; and his brother, Tom. Ada residents may remember his grandmother, Ida "Granny" Younts, and his grandfather, Joe "Papa" Younts.
This is not to request memorial gifts, but if you would spare a thought or a few dollars for either a housing or adult education agency in your local community, that would be a good way to remember him.
