Services for Billie Lee Mildred Lackey Holt, 92, of Ada are at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church. The Revs. Jerry Wells and Harold Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Holt passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at a local nursing home.
Billie Lee Mildred Lackey Holt was born Jan. 7, 1926, during the day in Norfork, Baxter County, Arkansas, to Lee Bryan and Della Virginia Silvertooth Lackey.
In 1932, the family moved from Norfork, Arkansas, to Kiefer. Billie was 10 years old and was given a piano. She played by ear but finally taught herself to play by note.
In 1940, the family moved to Clinton, Arkansas, and in January 1941, the family moved to Fittstown. She graduated from McLish High School in 1944. While attending school, she worked nights at the Fittstown telephone office. Her parents owned Lackey's Grocery in Fittstown, and she also worked there.
She married Lewis Hampton "Hamp" Holt on April 15, 1944. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1994.
She and her family lived in Fittstown; Council Hill; Seminole; Tioga, North Dakota; Outlook, Montana; Poteau; and Ada. During the time they lived in Seminole, she worked at the telephone office. While living in Tioga, she was a member of the Tioga Women's Bowling Association "600 Club." She was active at the First Baptist Church, Tioga, and a member of several church committees. She was also part of a women's singing group. She worked at Heinle Pharmacy in Tioga.
In Ada, Billie was active in the North American Bluebird Society. She gathered information, maintained a "bluebird trail" and gave talks to schoolchildren and local organizations. She attended the First Baptist Church, Ada, and was part of the Senior Adult Choir and the Faith Sunday School class.
Survivors include a son, James Alan Holt and wife, Jean, of Ada; daughter, Judith Waters and husband, Cletis, of Ada; her grandchildren, Tami L. Thompson and husband Charles "B.J.," Ada, Sonya D. Halsted and husband, Earl, of Glendale, Arizona, Melissa Garner, Oklahoma City, Jamie L. Hutchinson and husband, Andy, Edmond, and Jacob Holt and wife, Jessica, Fort Smith, Arkansas; her great-grandchildren, Michael Halsted and wife, Megan, Killeen, Texas, Melanie Rhynes and husband, Travis, Ada, Branch Garner, Yukon, Brooke Garner, Oklahoma City, Sarah Thompson and Charles Isaac Thompson of Ada; her great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Hutchinson, Edmond, Aubrey Halsted, Killeen, Texas, and Evelyn Rhynes of Ada; two brothers, James Lackey and wife, Barbara, Stonewall, and Lewis Lackey Sr. and wife, Geneva, Quitman, Arkansas; and sister, Janelle Robinson and husband, Vernon, Fittstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, L. B. Lackey Jr.; two sisters, Wilma Bunyard and Irene Peters; and an infant brother.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the First Baptist Church, Fall's Creek Fund, 521 S. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
